No, this is not accurate, but you are on the right lines. If the user has no write privileges of their own, and the Team has User level write privileges then they will only be able to edit records that are owned by the Team. User A would not be able to edit a record owned by User B. If User A, User B and the Team are in the same BU and the Team has BU level privileges then User A can edit a record owned by User B. If User C is in a different BU than the Team, then User A cannot edit a record owned by User C. If user C is in the Team, this is still true (A cannot edit C's records) - being in the same Team, has nothing to do with it. But C can now edit A's records. You have to look at it from the point of view of the security principal (user or team) that has the rights. If user X is in Team Y, and Team Y has BU level privileges then User X can edit records owned by any users or teams in the same BU as Team Y, regardless of where User X is, and regardless of which users are in the same Team.
