Forum Post: CRM 2015 Online SP1 - Unable to add child records to read only parent record

Hi Guys I have a strange scenario since upgrading to CRM 2015 SP1. I have a custom ENTITY A that has a 1:M relationship with custom ENTITY B. Users security role is as follows: ENTITY A = Organisation READ, APPEND and APPEND TO. No WRITE access ENTITY B = Organisation Full Access so can CREATE, READ, WRITE, APPEND, APPEND TO etc. Before SP1 users could navigate to ENTITY A (which was read only as no WRITE access) and then create a child record ENTITY B either by clicking on the + button on the sub grid or by navigating to associate view and click ‘Add new ENTITY B’. Since upgrading to SP1 the users no longer sees the + button on the sub grid nor can they add new child record ENTITY B from the associated view (the parent record is Active and not Inactive). So this seems strange as users have APPEND and APPEND TO access on ENTITY A but it does not allow me to add child records to it. If I navigate to ENTITY B directly and create new record, select the lookup field for ENTITY A and save, this works fine. For the + button to re-appear on ENTITY A, I have to give users WRITE access to the entity which I do not want to do as they should not be able to update the record. So my question is why since SP1 does the system not allow the creation of child records from a parent entity when the parent entity does not have WRITE access? Has anyone else experienced this issue or can replicate? I will be creating a new trial environment and checking if same problem occurs on a vanilla system Thanks Sukh
